Urban Shield Program is a dynamic initiative that strives to strengthen urban safety within the municipalities in the Northern Departments. This is achieved by establishing dedicated Urban Safety Departments within the municipalities’ administrations. This innovative approach facilitates enhanced cooperation between the municipalities, the police, and Zanmi Lapolis, promoting the alignment of urban policies with appropriate safety measures. The ultimate goal is to foster safe, inclusive, and progressive urban environments that uplift residents and contribute to the prosperous growth of the municipalities in the Northern Departments.
Expected Result
Increased Public Safety: Enhanced urban policies and safety measures should lead to decreased crime rates and a safer environment for the citizens of Northern Haiti.
Strengthened Community-Police Relations: Through collaborative efforts, trust and cooperation between the police and the community are expected to improve, leading to more effective law enforcement and a more engaged citizenry.
Policy Alignment: With a dedicated Urban Safety Department ensuring alignment of urban development policies with safety considerations, there will be a comprehensive and integrated approach to urban safety and development.
Capacity Building: The project will contribute to building the capacity of local law enforcement and city officials, enhancing their ability to manage urban safety effectively.
